Seasonal Cheer- Great Drink Recipes

Bundle up, then cuddle up with your holiday honey. Add a little cheer. Then comes the mischief... and more mischief... What a year...
HaPpy hoLidAys!

Long Island Iced Tea Ingredients:1 part Vodka...... 1 part Tequila..... 1 part Rum...... 1 part Gin...... 1 part Triple sec...... 1 1/2 part Sour mix...... 1 splash Coca-Cola
Mixing instructions:
Mix ingredients together over ice in a glass. Pour into shaker and give ONE brisk shake. Pour back into glass and make sure there is a touch of fizz at the top. Garnish with lemon. ll

Cosmopolitan #1 Ingredients:1 oz Vodka...... 1/2 oz Triple sec...... 1/2 oz Pose's Lime Juice...... 1/2 oz Cranberry Juice...... Lime wedge

Cosmopolitan Martini Ingredients:1/2 oz Cointreau...... 1 oz Vodka...... Juice of 1/2 Lime...... 1 splash Cranberry juice

A Piece of Ass Ingredients:1 shot Amaretto...... 1 shot Southern Comfort...... Ice cubes...... Top off with Sour mix
Mixing instructions:
Put ice in glass. Pour in shots. Fill with Sour Mix hh

1-900-FUK-MEUP Ingredients:1/2 oz Absolute Kurant...... 1/4 oz Grand Marnier...... 1/4 oz Chambord raspberry liqueur...... 1/4 oz Midori melon liqueur...... 1/4 oz Malibu Rum...... 1/4 oz Amaretto...... 1/2 oz Cranberry juice...... 1/4 oz Pineapple juice
Mixing instructions:
Shake ingredients in a mixing tin filled with ice cubes. Strain into a rocks glass.

Sangria - The World's Best
Ingredients:1.5 L Red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon)...... 1 cup Sugar...... 3-4 oz plain Brandy...... 1 large Lemon, sliced...... 1 large Orange, sliced......1 large Apple , cut into thin sections.
Mixing instructions:
Mix these altogether in a large container, stir, and let sit for 18-24 hours. Yes, I know that's a LONG time, but it's well worth the wait. A much more delightful sangria is produced when the fruit juice blends with the wine by osmosis than by stirring. (By the way, you should let it sit in the refrigerator during this long interim). When you are ready to drink it 18-24 hours later, stir it up again, and add sugar or brandy to taste, it should be fairly strong and fairly sweet, almost syrupy. Then, cut the mixture with some sort of bubbly water, orange or lemon flavored if possibly, but plain bubbly water is fine, until it seems to have a thinner, more wine like consistency.

Amazon Digital Music Store Goes Online

The store, Amazon MP3, will allow shoppers to buy and download individual songs or entire albums. The tracks can be copied to several computers, burned onto compact discs and played on most types of PCs and portable devices, including the Apple iPod and Microsoft Zune.

Songs cost 89 cents to 99 cents each and albums sell for $5.99 to $9.99.
Two major labels, Universal and EMI, have signed on to sell their music on Amazon, as have thousands of independent labels. continue reading

Halo 3 Takes Toll on Workforce

Some gamers are going to be a little sleepy this week at work or school, if they show up at all. With yesterday's release of Halo 3, the highly anticipated video game for the Xbox 360 console, many gamers are taking some personal time.

"In my group of friends, we're all taking the day off," said one Halo fan waiting in line late Monday night at a GameStop store in Rockville.
Like many game stores, GameStop opened at midnight yesterday to let some diehard fans get their hands on the first copies. The raucous event drew a hundred or so gamers -- and a small group of savvy local businesses marketing to the young male demographic. A nearby pizza restaurant sent a stack of free pies; a man in a nun costume passed out fliers for his Halloween shop, which just opened in a neighboring shopping center. continue reading

Showdown between 50 Cent and Kanye West is no contest

Two of the biggest-selling artists of the last four years go head-to-head Tuesday in the record stores with new albums: Kanye West’s “Graduation” (Good/Roc-A-Fella) and 50 Cent’s “Curtis” (Aftermath/Interscope).

It’s a big day not just for West and 50, but for the ailing music industry. With sales down 30 percent this year, the major labels who have dominated music for the last half-century are in need of a blockbuster album (seven or eight of them, actually) as the holiday buying season looms into view. Hip-hop in particular is tanking. In the ‘90s the genre led the surge in CD sales. Now it’s in the doldrums, with only three of the top-20 best-selling titles of 2007. read article

U-Md. Ranks 14 as a Party School

The University of Maryland, College Park, is not a top-10 school, the Princeton Review reports, and administrators, no doubt, are pleased. As a party school, UM comes in at 14.

The annual rankings are contained in the 2008 edition of "The Best 366 Colleges" and are based on a survey of 120,000 college students, mostly during the 2006-07 school year. The students answered survey questions having to do with the use of alcohol and drugs, hours of study each day and popularity of the Greek system.......

Number 1 on this year's dubious list of distinction is West Virginia University, up from number 3 last year. Southern state schools -- Mississippi, Texas, Florida and Georgia -- occupy the next rungs, above Penn State at number 6.

The U.S. Naval Academy is also on a list. It's number 8 among "stone-cold sober schools," despite several highly publicized incidents last year involving midshipmen and alcohol at establishments in downtown Annapolis. Brigham Young University is number 1 on the list. read more washingtonpost.com

'Ladies' Night' Lawsuits on the Rocks?

Want a good Laugh, read on, Lawsuits could be putting "Ladies' Nights" at bars and clubs across the country on the rocks.
In about two dozen cases, plaintiffs contend these drink and admission deals for women constitute discrimination against men and should be banned.

George Washington University law professor John Banzhaf, whose students have brought a Ladies' Night suit, says that these promotions are part of a broader class of gender-based price discrimination tactics like those used by hairdressers and dry cleaners who charge men and women different prices for the same service.
In Washington, D.C., he hopes to pursue what he calls restroom equity or "squatter's rights" in which he will sue public venues whose restroom availability, though seemingly equal for both sexes, has a "disparate impact" on women who must deal with longer lines and wait times.
Nightclub spokespersons and activists express concern that a class-action victory in a Ladies' Night lawsuit based on federal law could open the floodgates to a host of other suits against private businesses. read more

Owners Set To Increase Security at Nightclubs

Attorneys for a group of nightclub, bar and catering hall owners agreed yesterday to end their legal battle with Prince George's County over the closure of nine establishments this year, saying they will work with the county to upgrade security plans.
Under the deal, owners have agreed to increase the number of off-duty police officers at the clubs, improve lighting, install extra security cameras, and, in at least one case, put in ID scanners.

H2O Restaurant and Lounge must close by 1:30 a.m

A city regulatory board will allow a District nightclub to reopen for a two-week probationary period to give the owners a chance to overhaul security, nearly two weeks after violence outside the club left a patron dead.
The District's Alcoholic Beverage Control Board voted unanimously yesterday that the H2O Restaurant and Lounge must close by 1:30 a.m., upgrade its security cameras and enhance training of security officers. The police department is to review the measures.
On June 20, the board plans another hearing to determine whether the nightclub can remain open under the new guidelines or whether more restrictions are needed.

DC Clubbing Demo's

An article in the Washington Post today, "D.C. May Be Losing Status As a Majority-Black City" give census stats detailing the city's changing demos. If the DC party crowd was any indication of the city's demos, DC would have ceased being a majority Black city years ago. The limited clubbing option for Blacks could be a factor or is that result of the declining numbers, whatever. Let's take cursory glance....
Zanzibar on the waterfront - majority Black daily
Love the club - Friday (Black night)
H2O - Saturday (Black night)
Republic Gardens - majority Black
*Note: There is word of friendly agreement between the last to venues to.....
Home - majority non black (mnb)
Platinum - mnb
Avenue - mnb (large Black crowd)
FUR - mnb (large Black crowd)
1223 - mnb
Club 5 - mnb
Kstreet - mnb
Lima - mnb
Clouds - mnb
Paper Moon - mnb
Just an observations. I think it needs to be mentioned that there is a huge international clubbing crowd in DC. This is probably a huge factor here. It is all possible that the local Blacks are not necessarily the partying type or maybe to old or to young.
Ha... As long as the partying continue it doesn't matter on bit as long as Hip Hop rules. Now!That is if 'HitMan' aka Councilman Jim Graham doesn't gets his way. How many clubs has Jim closed so far is the Four or FIVE? Check out the 'hitman' sponsored legislation...

Las Vegas Clubbing Package

I Did the Clubbing Package this Weekend in Las Vagas. Ha, for $90 you get no line VIP passes to over thirty Vegas Clubs, including the top ones on and off the strip ( Tabu, Studio 54, Rain, GhostBar, IBar, VooDoo, Mix, Pure, Light). When I first saw the VIP Clubbing Package offer, I said no way. But it worked as advertised. Just present the pass and you are whizzed right in. So if you heading to Vegas I suggest The Clubbing Package.
But for a seasoned clubber Vegas has little to offer. Now, If you happen to be from Kansas - HOLLYWOOD. Not knocking Vegas - The Bomb - But, let me say it this way. They got the girls, Lavish Palace Clubs, The Sounds, The Lights, The Ambience, With no personality. When you try to blend, Kanas, New Nork, Alabama, Cali ..... The results no personality.
Now blend, Georgetown, Howard, American, Downtown, Uptown, Crosstown, cross the river and you got personality, baby. Need proof Hit 1223, Love, H2O, Home or Avenue any Saturday night. You can feel it - yo... And I ain't just takin about the music..

What DC Nightclub has the best Sounds?

Personally I think it's Home or the UltraBar - the main level. Some places you here the music - and it sound good, but at Home you experience the music. Somehow it becomes a part of you. I have no idea what they are working with ( the system, the power, the speakers) and for me it really doesn't matter. Home's primary asset is probably the high ceilings of an old bank that is acoustically on time. That my big O. Help me out here.

DC And Snow

Ha a friend called last night. He wanted to hit the streets and catch the Dior Diva Party at Lima. "Have you looked outside lately?', I asked. "Little snow so what. Dog I'm from Boston, this is nothing. I know how to drive in snow." He shot back. "Great, but remember you have to drive with all the locals who don't." I responded........ We didn't go to Lima.

It's that dreaded Valentine's Day again. Now, I'm not anti romance, but just how romantic is it when it's a requirement and everybody else is doing the exact same thing (Flowers, Candy, Jewerly) . Happy Valentine's Day.

JT @ The Verizon Center

Now I was never a big fan of Justin T or Pink. But that all changed Friday at the Verizon Center. Pink opened the show with a bang. She struted and looked good doin it, but then Circus Del Sole arrived and Pink went air borne. We (the crowd) went nuts. Her show ended with a bang and then arrived sir mix-alot he kept the crowd pumped. My ears a still ringing because from the moment mister electric arrived on stage there was a continous scream that lasted until the very last note. The band was tight. I just love live music. And Justin danced and sanged and the women screamed. I didn't believe it when I saw a girl two rows in front of me screamed until she passed out... She wasn't alone. And there were honeys to the left of me, honeys to the right of me, honeys in front of and honeys behind me. .

The Party Block

My old college bud was in town last weekend. He's a civil servant in the windy city (Chicago) now and wanted to tour the DC club scene I've been bragging about for years. We'll I never actually bragged about the scene so much as I did the lovely DC honeys.
The delimma what club could live up to my hype. My favorite clubs list Avenue, 1223, Ozio, Club Five, UltraBar, Love, H2O, Dragonfly, Clouds, 18th Street Lounge. Looking at the list the choice was obvious. 1800 M Street I call the Party Block.... You can stand on the corner watch honeys coming for every direction. That's exactly what we did. We stood at 18th and M for Five minutes watching the scenery and noting the destinations. 1223 had the hottest action last Friday....
